Unstructured: Unstructured jackets have canvas trim only on the shoulders. This not only creates a more casual look, but also enhances breathability. Please note that this option will prevent you from selecting rope or soft shoulders in the Shoulder Type section.
Shoulder Types
Standard: Our standard shoulders include professional and classic style padding.
Cord: Our Cord Shoulder contains the same padding as our Standard option, but the sleeve rises slightly higher than the shoulder itself - it accentuates the shoulder and is more traditional.
SOFT: Our soft shoulders have less padding for a more casual look.
Lapel Type
Notched lapels - This style is a tried and true favorite that works well with both casual and formal attire. Notched lapels are a great choice if you want to create an understated yet stylish look. They are perfect with single, double or triple breasted jackets. Our style is 2.75 inches/7 cm at its widest point.
Peak Lapels - Classic and bold, statement lapels are often worn for more formal occasions, but are also suitable for office wear. These lapels pair perfectly with double-breasted jackets. Our measurements measure 2.75"/7cm at the widest point.
Slim Fit - A slimmer, more relaxed fit. The Italian slim fit suits are proof of this. Best for petite people. Our fit is 2.36"/6cm at the widest point.
Wide Notch - A larger, more dramatic notch that perfectly complements a wider silhouette. Fits single, double or triple breasted jackets. Our sizes measure 4.00"/10cm at the widest point.
Wide Peaked Lapels - Wide peaked lapels are larger and bolder than the narrower peaked lapels above. Taller men should generally choose wider lapels. This style also works well with double-breasted jackets. Our peaked lapels are 4.00"/10cm at their widest point.
Shawl - Available only on tuxedos, tuxedos or Make It A Tuxedo suits, this is the most formal lapel of all styles and is perfect for a formal dinner. Our lapels are 2.75"/7cm at their widest point. Please note that shawl lapels are not available on double-breasted or three-button lapels.
Chest Pocket
Welt Pockets - Welt pockets are standard chest pockets
Patch Pockets - Round patch pockets are slightly more casual than standard patch pockets. We recommend this style if you choose to use the patch pockets as hip pockets.
Buttons
Two Buttons - A two button suit is the perfect all-around choice and is usually your best choice.
One Button - A one button suit is sleeker and more modern than a two button suit - and is also a popular choice for a tuxedo or evening gown.
Three buttons - Three-button suits depend on personal preference and are suitable for taller people.
Three-Button Lapel - The three-button lapel suit reflects the style of traditional tailoring, with an unused third buttonhole on the lower lapel.
Double-breasted (four or six buttons) - Double-breasted jackets have a bolder, more classic style - we recommend pairing these styles with peak or wide peak lapels.
Button Color
Button color is a matter of personal preference, but brown is recommended for most suits. Black buttons are generally recommended for black or dark suits, while cream buttons are suitable for lighter suits. Our satin black buttons are the only type of button available on Make It A Tuxedo suits.
Pocket Styles
Flap Pockets - Flap pockets are versatile and suitable for any occasion, and have traditionally been a standard feature on suit jackets.
Welt Pockets/No Flap - Welt pockets are more sophisticated and sleek, perfect for formal wear.
Slant Pockets (With or Without Flap) - Slant pockets, with or without flap, are dynamic and sporty - fashion-forward and perfect for casual or weekend looks.
Back Vent Type
One or Two Vent - One or Two Vent jackets are interchangeable, depending on personal preference.
No Vents- No vent jackets are perfect for evening gowns or tuxedo jackets.
Linings
Choose one of our jacket linings, perfect for adding a personal touch to your suit jacket. We have too many options to list on this FAQ page, but we've tweaked them for the lightest suits - beige, light grey, light blue, white, lavender or light pink viscose.
Monograms
Monogram text - Our monograms can contain two lines, with a maximum of 20 characters per line. Please note that some characters are not available and capital letters count as two characters.
Monogram style - You can choose to monogram in Times Roman or Brush Script style.
Monogram Color - You can choose from White, Silver Grey, Royal Blue, Light Blue, Blue, Red, Purple, Black, Orange, Gold, Charcoal Grey, Light Pink, Hunter Green, Olive, or Navy.
More Customization Options
Pick-up seams - Pick-up seams are visible stitching along the edges of lapels and other key features of the jacket (particularly pocket flaps - if flap pockets are selected)
Waist Pocket - The waist pocket, also called a "ticket pocket," is the third pocket on the outside of the jacket and is approximately two-thirds the size of the other two main pockets. This pocket will use the style you selected in the Pocket Style Customization.
Utility Cuffholes - Also known as "surgeon's cuffs," utility buttonholes on the cuffs of a suit are the essence of a tailored suit. Unbuttoning the first button is a stylish way to showcase this feature in public.
Buttonhole Colour - Add personality to your utilitarian cuff buttonholes with contrast stitching to create an eye-catching look. Please note that the jacket's boutonniere will also be the same colour. Available in matching (non-contrasting), beige, brown, burgundy, lavender, blue, light grey, black, navy, dark grey or white.
Pants Customization
Pleats
No Pleats or Single Pleats - WIAI recommends pants with no pleats (flat front). If you prefer pleats, please choose.
Hem
Tucking or blind seaming - The way you finish your trouser hems is different for different men and different uses of the trousers. For dress pants, blind seams are the standard, but cuffs are more suitable for taller men because they can divide the body into several sections.
More customization options
Belts - Stylish and practical belt loops allow for easy accessorizing, while plain belts are more minimalist. Versatile side straps allow for flexible belt size adjustment.
Suspender Buttons - Customize your waistband without belt loops or side tabs and pair with European style suspender buttons for a unique look, or keep the belt loops and add suspenders to have a pair of pants for all occasions.
